PC Game Pass Is Getting A Mythical City Builder At Launch

Fantasy city builder Against The Storm is coming out of early access on December 8 and launching on PC Game Pass simultaneously.

In Against The Storm, you’ll construct multiple settlements a massive, storm-beset wilderness. Each map is randomly generated, across six potential biomes. You can’t count on getting the same resources in each city, so you’ll have to build different economies to sustain each one. Should your settlements fail, you’ll have to start Against The Storm may be a roguelike, but it does have some meta progression. You’ll carry over resources and upgrades from run to run.

Your cities are populated with a variety of citizens, including foxes, beavers, lizards, humans, and harpies. Each group varying needs and varying skill sets. You can also sacrifice your villagers to ancient gods in order to gain benefits or barter resources with traders to get what you need. To convince your ruler the Scorched Queen that your settlements can last, you’ll have to fulfill her specific orders.

In the Queen’s Hand mode, which will enter the game at launch, players will have only one “cycle” with which to complete the game’s biggest challenge: reforging the Adamantine Seal. You’ll have to be more particular about what upgrades you choose, as you cannot get a full set in this mode. Additionally, the meta progression will reset upon failure. If you succeed, you’ll get the title of Queen’s Hand and earn an audience with the Scorched Queen.

Against The Storm is currently available in early access for $29.99 on Steam, GOG, and The Epic Games Store.
